Los Chantas

About

LOS CHANTAS are a multinational tango ensemble based in New York City. Their repertoire draws from the great Argentine tango tradition from the guardia vieja to the present. The group has been playing in milongas, clubs, theaters, and other venues in and around New York since its inception in 2002. With original arrangements of songs by Gardel, Troilo, Salgán, Piazzolla, and others, and a playful, improvised style, Los Chantas infuse classic tangos with new life and unique flavor.

Tango for Education

Did you know that Los Chantas Tango Quartet are available to present and perform in educational settings? Examples from past events include providing musicality workshops; presenting on the history and culture of tango dance and music; instructing music students on the unique techniques and styles of tango music; and performing concerts "in residence" with youth orchestras or ensembles. We have engaged with local schools and cultural institutions on educational projects and welcome proposals and inquiries to bring tango to your school or community organization!
